Topaz Video AI for Apple Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Before we begin, it's essential to note that NCNN Vulkan requires a Vulkan-compatible GPU. As of v2.9, we're using our fork of Real-ESRGAN-ncnn-vulkan at 'Real-ESRGAN repository'(https://www.real-esrgan.com/). The CLI tool is called real-esrgan-ncnn-vulkan and it's available on the Real-ESRGAN repository.

To get started, you'll need to install Upscayl, a powerful AI model that enhances your images by guessing what the details could be. You can download the upscayl-x.x.x-mac.dmg file and follow these steps:

1. Download the dmg file and open it.

2. Drag the Upscayl icon into the Applications folder.

Alternatively, you can choose to install using other formats like RPM (Fedora), DEB (Debian/Ubuntu based), and ZIP (Any Linux OS).

If you're on a Linux-based operating system, you can download the upscayl-x.x.x-linux.AppImage file. To run Upscayl, follow these steps:

1. Right-click on the AppImage file and go to Permissions > Check 'allow file to execute'.

2. Double-click the file to run Upscayl.

Please note that many CPU and iGPUs do not work with Topaz Video AI, but it's worth trying. However, you'll need a Vulkan-compatible GPU to upscale images.

Performance and UI responsiveness may be reduced when upscaling to 4x. We plan to re-incorporate auto parameters in a future update to Video AI plug-ins.

Currently, only Enhancement and Motion Deblur models are available. Multi-Frame Rendering must be disabled in After Effects' preferences.

If you're using Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro, follow these steps:

1. Click Help > Install TVAI After Effects Plugin Beta.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the beta plugin.

This public beta release will be limited to After Effects on Windows at first as we work with our community on increasing performance and identifying bugs before the full release.
